It’s a well-known fact that any antibiotic drug, possessing strong antibacterial power, can easily interact with other medicines, causing at the best no effectiveness while treatment. In worse cases such interaction could result in cardiovascular system overwork, digestion problems, deterioration of work of liver and kidney and some other side effects.

In order to avoid such undesirable reaction, have a medical consultation before you start taking Sumycin. More than that, tell your attending doctor if you suffer from any allergy, especially to antibiotic drugs, for in that case you will need to do an acceptability test. If having no prohibition, you should remember the following:

* Sumycin is not to be mixed with aluminum, magnesium, or calcium-based antacids, which are active components of Mylanta, Maalox, Tums, Rolaids, etc.
* Iron supplements, as for example Pepto-Bismol, also interact with Sumycin, so they are to be excluded while taking this antibiotic;
* Diary products also reduce absorption of Sumycin;
* Note, that Sumycin may enhance the activity of the blood thinner; it may also reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives.
